PROJECT LOOK AHEAD!: Preparing Special Children for a Future: Career Directions and Transition Programs

This theme focuses on the preparation of special children for their future. Lest we forget, these children need career directions and transition programs so that they, too, can have a purposive, meaningful and productive adult life.

The conference aims to achieve the following objectives:
1. Discuss the concepts of Career Education and Transition in the light of readying special children for their future.
2. Determine post-schooling career/transition placements considering the different child, family, community and other factors.
3. Specify the different career/transition options.
4. Identify the different resources, opportunities and possibilities to make career/transition placements doable.
5. Plan for the special child as early as possible by way of aligning curricular, instructional and psychosocial programs with specific career/transition placement schemes.

Specific topics covered by the Conference are as follows:
1. Career Education and Transition and the Special Child
2. Evaluation Rubric: Determining Post-Schooling Career/Transition Placements for Special Children
3. Career/Transition Options
4. Resources, Opportunities and Possibilities
5. Preparation of the Special Child for a Future in terms of:
● Curricular Programs
● Instructional Programs
● Psychosocial Programs

Through this Conference, we would like to answer these pressing questions, “Where will our special children go beyond schooling?”, and “How can we support-persons ready them for a future?”

The 13th National Conference in Special Education's topics this year is very interesting. Especially with the transition period teachers are experiencing because of the proposed K12 Program. Are you going to the seminar?
